Undergraduate
Melbourne University and Royal Melbourne Hospital
Graduated in 1970 with Honours in all subjects including distinguished prizes in
medicine and pharmacology.
Internship
Royal Melbourne Hospital and subsequently did training in Obstetrics and
Gynaecology
at The Royal Women’s Hospital and General Medicine at The Royal Melbourne
Hospital.
Post Graduate
- Australian Orthopaedic Training Program (Commenced in 1976)
- Fellow of Australian Orthopaedic Association 1980
Following this he became a Chief Resident in orthopaedic surgery at
Vanderbilt University Hospital, Nashville Tennessee and became American
Orthopaedic Surgeon board eligible. He had a subsequent year at the Harvard
Affiliated Hospitals in joint replacement surgery and sports medicine surgery.
He was involved with a number of sporting teams based in Boston, Massachusetts.
He was one of the original members of the Melbourne Orthopaedic Group and his
practice is now based around The Avenue Hospital and having spent time as a
consultant at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Austin Hospital and Alfred Hospital.

I have lectured on the subjects most relevant to this theme, and these include-
Meetings of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and other local and
international meetings on the place of minimally invasive knee surgery, computer
navigation, hip replacement & resurfacing surgery, multimodal ways of improving
surgical outcome, developed a patient information program, worked with Medicare
on electronic web based messaging system, developed surgical techniques of the
shoulder as alternatives to surgery such as distension arthrography (hydrodilitation)
as well as lecturing on arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder including surgery
for instability, rotator cuff repair, arthritis and shoulder impingement.
It is my sincere hope that my expertise will allow more people to maintain a
healthy active life style into their third age and to maximize their function in
middle age.
