Welcome to the website of Rod Dalziel, Orthopaedic Surgeon. I have been
practicing orthopaedic surgery for over 30 years
and during this time I have been most fortunate to be involved in a rapidly
expanding and productive area of medicine.
I have a background of management of sports injuries at both the elite and
social level, but now focus predominantly on
the middle aged athlete and those athletes approaching middle age. There is now
ample evidence to support our ability to prolong optimal joint mobility and
surgical procedures that not only maintain and prolong joint activity, but can
improve
joint function allowing the middle aged athlete an improved quality of life.
Joint replacement surgery is now not only for
the elderly but can be used with the middle aged and older people to not only
maintain their independence, but also allow
them to partake in a sports program which is also a useful to management of
increasing weight, hypertension (Blood
pressure), maturity onset diabetes, osteoporosis and many other afflictions of
the older person.
It is my sincere hope that my expertise will allow more
people to maintain a healthy active life style into their third age and to
maximize their function in middle age.
